City symbol of the historical confrontation between West and East but also metropolis where millenary cultures meet, in the marvellous Istanbul the 2018 program ends with two collective exhibitions. In the two showcases and in the Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori catalogue, over sixty artists discuss trough painting, sculpture and graphics in a great variety of addresses and influences artistic. From 3 to 10 November the works are hosted at the Asmalımescit Sanat Galerisi, from 10 to 18 November the exhibition moves to the Tüyap Sanat Fuari – Art Fair, important international exhibition of contemporary art. Critical text by Leo Strozzieri, editorial coordination by Sonia Paolone, English translations by Andrea Lodolo. On the front and back cover, works by Giancarlo Caneva.
"Art: interaction of aesthetic and formal values. Still today? Istanbul exhibit of Italian artists, which, according to the intentions of its promoters, especially the master Giancarlo Caneva, aims to be a bridge between Italian culture and that of the “Second Rome”- as this beautiful city has been labelled for centuries, having served both as the capital of one of the largest empires in history and as a melting pot of several cultures (mostly Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman) - is to be interpreted in the light of the question presented in the title, given that among the invited at this prestigious exposition one can indeed find artists whose art revolves around an iconic research where aesthetic and formal values are still considered a priority, but also ones who indulge in abstract art and often flirt with conceptual art, though in a subtle way."
